One photo in, a textured 3D model out

R&D into how far open-source image-to-3D has come: can a single still image become a mesh with usable PBR textures?
Everything had to run locally on one RTX 4090. And a mesh that looks good in a viewer isn't the same as one you can light, stage and animate.
Custom ComfyUI and Gradio setups for each model. The output meshes went into Blender and Unreal to see how they held up under real lighting, side by side, textured and untextured.
What surprised meMesh and texture quality were well past what I expected from a single image.
Textured 3D models from single stills, staged and lit in Blender and Unreal. Getting output clean enough for animation was the hardest part.
Going from one image to a lit, real-time asset is a big shortcut for a small team building worlds.
